Bought a glider!

I found a great deal for a glider on Craigslist. The lady was asking $40 but when I got there she gave it to us for $20! Can't beat that!

Please ignore the mess in the background...the baby room is still a work in progress. But I love a great deal and had to share!

By the way I found the glider though the Craigslist phone app that lets me know when things I am interested in are listed...it helps me to respond to ads faster!

Mom's Quilt Finished!

I almost forgot...I finally finished my Mom's quilt. It was supposed to be for mother's day last year....ooops! Well here it is:

The Front:

Up Close:

The Back:
I was looking to make a modern cottage chic quilt for my mom's beach house, I was inspired by the lemon bars quilt's layout from allpeoplequilt.com and the ragged squares quilt from crazymomquilts.blogspot.com. The back ground is an off white linen.

My mom loved it! It was very exciting to finish the project. Let's just hope it doesn't take me that long to finish the nursery bedding!

There is a baby on the way!

My latest project will be turning our extra bedroom/workout room into a nursery. I have lots of ideas and will begin posting updates as I put it all together! I am due July 29th so it is about time I get started! 8 ). A sneak peak:

I loved this rug from Land of Nod:

I didn't love the price! I found this rug at Walmart that was so similar you would almost think it was the same rug...but for $60 cheaper!

I always love a good deal! 8 )

After dinner and a glass of wine last night I got motivated and created two new pillows from some old t-shirts...

Onesies...

Here it is...some onesies that I have been making... please ignore the wrinkles and poor photography...I did get rid of the wrinkles before selling/giving them away 8 ).

I bought a ton of new blank onesies today to make along with some jersey fabric to try making this tutorial...
I am thinking of making it longer to make it a dress and then maybe adding straps. Hmmm....we'll see how it turns out.

First, I need to get back to my mom's quilt!

Labor Day weekend!

It has been a busy but very fun weekend! It started out with my nephew Cal's 1st birthday. I made the cake for the party. He was wanting a dog cake (his favorite word). After doing some searching on the internet I came across this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/sprootles/2638575570/ . Though I have not ever tried decorated a cake I decided to give it a try.

Here is what I came up with:

It was definitely a challenge but oh so fun. Then when seeing these reactions it was definatly worth all the effort:

While the cake was baking I ran to my sewing machine and whipped up Cal a little dog pillow:

My Dad did a shrimp boil for dinner (yum!) and then of course we had cake and ice cream for dessert. It was fun hanging out with everyone--I wish the rest of the family could have been there too. I think Cal had a good time at his first birthday party! I know I had fun watching him and his sister enjoy the day!

The next day Hubbs brought me out on a date. We went to P.F. Changs for dinner and then saw "Dinner with the Schmucks". What a great time!

After all the eating of the weekend it felt good to wake up this morning and go on a 4.5 mile run. What's planned for the rest of the day? Hmmm...maybe some cleaning, working on my mom's quilt, put a puzzle together or just relaxing--so many choices-- we'll see!

I hope everyone else enjoyed their long weekend as much as I did!
